Situated near Malmö, Sweden, this harmonious home is everything you love about Scandinavian design.

From the serene and muted colour palette, to the blonde wood and mid-century furniture, it is cohesively pulled together to perfection. The home owners built it from scratch, working with a good architect friend to create their "dream home" and a haven to escape their busy city lives.

The apartment-dwelling (but nature loving) family was keen to create a new home in harmony with nature. Connection to the outdoors was essential, as was the use of raw and natural materials, such as concrete and timber, throughout the home.

Large windows, a big deck, outdoor shower and atrium blur the boundaries between the indoors and out. The big windows and cohesive colour scheme both work together to give the illusion of more space.

Polished terrazzo floors cover the floors and pair perfectly with the white plastered walls, pale timber, and dusky pink furnishings.   Far from being boring, the neutral colour scheme is calming.  To add interest without pops of colour,  the home owners took a more sophisticated and restrained approach. High quality textures, (linen, leather, sheepskin) and sculptural furniture draw the eye without competing for attention.

Of course, no Swedish home is complete without a fireplace at the heart of the living room. The minimalist lines of the Spartherm single XL wood fire contrast beautifully with the curves of the leather butterfly chair and Hags Wagner Wishbone dining chairs.
