Stoke is excited to welcome Maxen Fireplaces to its product range, offering Kiwis a wood fireplace that does exactly what it’s meant to, and looks like it should.
A Kiwi company, Maxen is refreshingly uncomplicated. They’re all about doing the simple things well, providing you with the essentials, without the unnecessary frills – they call it ‘good, honest warmth’, and here’s why:
A range that meets local zone requirements
In New Zealand, depending on where you live, there are different emission requirements that your fireplace needs to meet. There are four main classifications – ULEB (Ultra Low Emission Burners) LEB (Low Emission Burners), Clean Air, and Rural Wood Fireplaces. Before you start looking at a wood fire, you need to make sure which one you can install in your location.
Maxen keeps this part of the process simple for you by offering a range that covers each classification, so no matter where you live in the country or what environmental concerns you might have, there’s a fireplace to suit you. Just make sure you check with your local regional council for any restrictions and the Stoke team can help guide you in the right direction and advise on the consent process for your new Maxen fireplace.
Designed for kiwi homes
Maxen Fireplaces cater to a wide range of needs – depending on the style of your home, the fireplace location, the amount of heat you require, or the look you want. Whether you’re a traditionalist at heart, or you love the clean and simple lines of contemporary design, there is a fireplace style to suit your needs.

Kinmont 350 & 450: A traditional wood fire in two sizes with three base options. Choose ‘Legs’ for a modern take on a traditional style; ‘Wood Stacker’ for a clean, modern look; or ‘Pedestal’ for a classic wood fire look complete with a concealed Soft-glide Ash Drawer.
Cargill 350: Inspired by European design, this sleek ULEB (Ultra Low Emission Burner) fire is tailored for New Zealand's low emission zones.
Henley 250: A compact fire, perfect for smaller homes or beachside cottages, designed to fit seamlessly into cosier spaces.
Forbury 550: An inbuilt wood fire, ideal for upgrading your existing open or inbuilt fire, presenting a great option for renovators looking to transform their home.
Built tough
Maxen provides a 15-year warranty, highlighting the brand’s confidence in its products for your peace of mind.
Furthermore, their customer support and service are second to none, ensuring that your experience with Maxen is as warm and welcoming as the fires they provide.
Maxen promises robustness and reliability. Crafted with 6mm steel, these fireplaces are built to withstand the test of time.
Engineered for everyday use
Not just great heat output and looks, Maxen fireplaces are built practically too – designed for real, everyday use, time and time again.
All Maxen fireplaces feature a Soft-lock Handle that ensures a smooth and hassle-free operation every time. While all freestanding models have a 6mm-8mm cooktop that you can use for cooking or boiling the kettle when the power goes out. With more room than most other cooktops, you can safely use more than one pot too.

Some models offer a Water Booster option, or a ‘wet-back’, which allows you to use the fire to heat water that feeds into your hot water cylinder. You also have the choice of two Maxen flues – the Traditional Flue Kit, or the Therma-flue Kit which increases efficiency and keeps more radiant heat in the room.
